Undergraduate Scholarships

Below is a listing of undergraduate scholarship and fellowship opportunities in the atmospheric and related sciences. Some are available only to entering freshmen, whereas others are available to students at more advanced stages of their undergraduate studies. NOAA Hollings Scholarships

NOAA Hollings Scholarships are intended to increase undergraduate training in oceanic and atmospheric science, research, technology, and education. Over 100 awards are made per year, with each award including an up to $9,500/yr stipend for two years and a ten-week, full-time paid summer research experience between the first and second years of the program. AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship is available to high school seniors who plan to enter their first year of atmospheric science undergraduate studies in the fall. Approximately ten to twenty awards are made per year, with each award including a $2,500/yr stipend for two years. Applications are typically due in February.

AMS Senior Named Undergraduate Scholarships

This scholarship is available to juniors who plan to enter their final year of atmospheric science undergraduate studies in the fall. Approximately fifteen awards are made per year, with the stipend amount varying between awards. Applications are typically due in February.

NWA Undergraduate Scholarships

The National Weather Association offers scholarships to undergraduate students at varying stages of their studies within the atmospheric sciences. A total of eight scholarships are available annually, with applications due on a rotating basis throughout the calendar year. Stipends vary between individual scholarships.
